Morning Ritual Here I Come!
Beginning a morning ritual makes sense to those of us who feel like our days seem to unfold willy-nilly rather than the way we would like them to.
We know that, after pressing snooze three times and, therefore, having to forgo important routines like making and eating breakfast, planning our day, exercising and just plain relaxing, the tone of the day is, basically, screwed.
We all wish we could start the day slower and with more time to ponder our goals, plans and desires. I've lived the frantic work routine for must of my adult life.
I have spent many years stumbling out of bed, bleary eyed, grabbing whatever clothes were convenient, throwing them on and dashing out the door often forgetting important items and events.
I am not a morning person. I do get up before 7:00 a.m. most mornings due to practicality but the biggest regret I have each day is that the precious time between seven and nine that belong to me and only me are often squandered away with texts, emails, Twitter, Facebook CNN and not doing much of anything. I am a firm believer in spending a good portion of time time doing nothing each day to improve my quality of life but I don't quantify those cyber activities as 'doing nothing'. They don't rate in that esteemed category.
I am very aware of the value of a disciplined life. I suffer from ADD and am in possession of quite the scattered personality type. I begin and fail at most projects I attempt and have made several tries to stick to a morning routine over the years and never really sustained one. This Morning Ritual blog is the direct result of my determination to finally achieve my numerous goals and bucket list items. I know at a gut level that a day well started is a day that has a great chance at success.
The goal of this Morning Ritual blog is to become an expert on creating and maintaining positive morning rituals. I am a work in progress and if you are reading this you are welcome to come on this journey with me.
I plan on baring for all to see my daily, weekly and lifetime goals, aspirations and plans. I will align my constantly evolving morning ritual with my current lifetime goals and the items on my bucket list. I will be assigning tasks to complete in the two hours I am gifting myself each morning before my responsibilities kick in. Finding the precious time to practice morning rituals will be addressed herein along with all other important aspects including how to prepare the night before, how to wake up happy, readings, writings, ceremonial practices, exercise and nutrition. Nature's role in our well being will be addressed along with meditation, gratitude, goal setting and self-care.
Each day I will post a blog entry that includes 'today's' mindful morning ritual, a gratitude list and seven tasks that will positively impact my two important lists. These tasks must be completed by the end of that particular day or week. You'll get the gist of this the more often you log in and join me with your own parallel morning rituals.
Well enough said!! Let's jump in and begin that quintessential 'first day of the rest of our lives'!
